The bank has made it a tradition to appoint senior leaders from one of its performing employees. This has seen the finance media zero on seven senior bank executives as possible successors.

A few names have been touted. These include Mauricio Machado de Minas who is the current head of IT, Alexandre da Silva Gluher the Chief Risk Officer at the bank who served in an important role in the acquisition of HSBC Brazil, Domingos Figueiredo Abreu the Bradesco’s head of treasury and lending departments, Josué Augusto Pancini who is in charge of the bank’s branch network, Marcelo de Araujo Noronha who is in charge of the banks corporate investment and card operations, Octavio de Lazari who heads the insurance unit, and André Rodrigues Cano who is in charge of the human resource department.

Since the Bank has indicated that the next CEO will come from this pool, it is reasonable to conclude that one of this individuals will take over. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi started working for Banco Bradesco in 1969 as a bank teller. He was in his late teens at that time. Over the next 15 years, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi held various positions such as branch manager, district manager, and regional manager. It was at this time that the Bradesco decided to tap him for bigger and more strategic roles. This got him appointed as a Director in 1984 as the first major senior management position he held. In 1999, he rose to the position of an Executive Vice President where he served to the year 2003. He then moved on to be the chairman of Bradesco Seguros till 2009. At the height of the financial crisis, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was appointed the CEO of Bradesco Bank. With the Brazilian banking industry facing a downturn, the bank needed a shrewd business leader to see it through.
