Nowadays, she is an experienced marketing analyst and recovery expert but things weren’t always going so swimmingly for Victoria Doramus. So just how did she manage to turn her life around? She recently sat down with Affiliate Dork to discuss how she overcame her hardships and became the successful career woman you see today. From an early age, she showed a great interest and proficiency for communication. This led her to matriculate at the University of Colorado Boulder where she eventually earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. Upon graduation, she began her career by doing media planning for a company known as Mindshare. She later moved on to a new position at a company known as Creative Agency.
She even worked as a personal assistant for a director by the name of Peter Berg but soon it all came crashing down. At the age of 26, she first entered rehab after developing an addiction to adderall and cocaine. Victoria Doramus was treated there for 45 days before returning to LA but she consistently worried about the possibility of a relapse and, before long, she found herself doing another stint in a rehab clinic in Connecticut for over 2 months. She had hit rock bottom and, at one point, she even found herself homeless but she was nevertheless determined to overcome this struggle and get her life back on track. Finally, she ended up in a halfway house.
This is where she worked with a sponsor to help turn things around and beat the addiction once and for all. Over a year later, Victoria Doramus is doing better and even has plans to open a halfway house of her own as she strives to help ensure that the next generation doesn’t make the same mistakes as her. While she was enduring all this hardship, she even wrote a memoir about her struggle in the hopes that it will help others who are currently struggling with similar issues. She is also working with the Women’s Prison Association to help advocate for the rights of women who are incarcerated.
